Fish Feeding Guide Fish, being living organisms, require calories for sustaining their metabolism. Feeding the fish by proper means would help them to remain healthy. Aquarium would also get benefited by this. It is compulsory to get apprised about the kinds of foods and their quantities needed by the fish, which varies from one species to another. In majority of cases, fish require to be nourished only once in the whole day. The feed needs to be small. Care should be taken to ensure that fish get sufficient nutrients from food consumed by them within 2 minutes, till the time the food makes up for nutritional needs. It is a known fact that food staying in the tank longer than getting caught in decorations, filter, or gravel would start decaying, thereby contributing to pitiable water quality. Such a quality would increase susceptibility of disease and maintenance of filter. Need for change of water could also be increased. Regular, small feedings offer fish with nutrients which are needed by them and also keep tank cleaner as compared to more frequent or large feedings. Overfeeding might result in growth of algae, that could be unsightly. Other disadvantages include removal of crucial oxygen from water, and rise in chores related to tank maintenance. Majority of fish, such as ‘Cold Blooded Vertebrates’, have a carnivorous habitat. They consume insects, worms, insect larvae, grubs, shrimps and animals alike, smaller fish, and at times, even tiny amphibians, mammals, birds, and reptiles in wild. However, fish graze on the live plants. Those not consuming even a bit of algae are very few. So, it’s good to draw the conclusion that majority of fish are omnivorous. Not only that, they require food containing both, vegetable and animal matter for remaining healthy. In the offices we mentioned earlier, where they kept the animal as a pet (Moscow Office Space, St Petersburg Office Space, Madrid Office Space and Stockholm Office Space) they always make sure that they liase with each other before feeding the office pets. Fish foods consist of two categories: live food and processed food. Live food comprises of microorganisms, animals, and plants. Processed foods consist of beef bits, seafood, game meats, or poultry. |
